Our Third Annual Survey Has Closed

Our third annual survey of best practices closed on October 9. Thanks to 118 respondents nationwide, we have received helpful new information about key quality indicators, market conditions, and pricing. A big THANK YOU to all who answered the questionnaire. Everyone who completed the survey and provided an email address will receive the raw results by Thanksgiving. For more info follow Don Harting on this blog, on LinkedIn, or on Twitter (@CME_Scout).

  1. Thank you for the opportunity to participate in this year's survey. Question #9 seems to be geared more towards those who free lance or are part of a company that sells needs assessment writing as part of their services. It does not take into account those who only write them as part of their position in house.

  2. Hi Kim, thank you so much for taking the survey and for leaving this comment. You may be right about question 9. Each year we take this survey we learn more about how diverse our respondents are, in terms of job description and work setting as well as writing practices. Many members of the American Medical Writers Association (to which Kathy and I both belong) write needs assessments on a freelance basis, either full or part time. But many other respondents tell us they are staff employees at companies, schools, or societies. We will be able to give you a detailed breakdown of freelance versus employee when we publish the raw results next month. Again, thank you for taking the survey and for leaving a comment on this blog. Thanks to you and many others we have more than 100 responses (!)
